 Session 19: The Library and the Torture Chamber

The Cult

     The Suicide Squad opened a door on the second level. It revealed a library, in which they found a Wight and a Flameskull. The Wight was destroyed by a crushing blow from Greg's fist. The Flameskull was crushed by a book that Blake hurled at it with his wind abilities. All that remained of the Flameskull was a bunch of broken pieces of bone.

    In the next room they opened, the found a torture chamber. Several of the devices held dead cultists. In the center of the room was a Chain Devil, sharpening the end of one of its chains. It looked up and said, "So, I have more playmates." The party had a difficult time killing the Chain Devil because it animated four chains that they were constantly having to fight off. Bean, Greg, and Blake all almost died. Reginald came in clutch with Cure Wounds a couple times. One of the chains was defeated by Larry, who bit through it after several turns. Greg wound up grappled and prone because of one of the chains, and Bean was grappled. Eventually the Chain Devil was defeated when Blake knocked one of the chains into the Chain Devil's face.

    The party took a long rest on the first floor. When they went back down, they found the Flameskull from before waiting for them. It had apparently reformed itself. They fought it again, ending with Bean smashing it with a mace. This time, they took the pieces of skull up to the first floor where they took another long rest. During that rest, Larry crushed each of the pieces of skull with his teeth into a fine powder which he then swallowed. Larry is a grumpy goat who doesn't like anyone except Ronin who saved him from cultists. But, Reginald gave him a very juicy mango to wash down the bone powder. So, Reginald finally won Larry over.
