Dungeons and Dragons: Mythania Campaign: Session 15

 Session 15: Fiends and Fanatics

(Session 14 didn't have anything of note, so I skipped that one.)

Note: Bean and Juan are still on their quests. Sylvain officially left the party.

The Cult

    Having spent the last session going around killing random cultists and their thralls (including but not limited to a minotaur skeleton), the party discovered at the end the whereabouts of the dungeon of the Bishop of Gaia, one of the cult's subleaders.

    During this session, the party decided to honor their deal with Bralzrog the Dragon and eliminate the cultists who were stationed in a cave near his lair that had been bothering him. Upon venturing into said cave, they found a few cultists and cult fanatics. The cultists were guarded by two hell hounds. The hounds attacked the party. After a fierce battle, the party killed the hounds. During that fight, Ronin had hit the cultists with his lightning breath, and Shavae had hit the roof with a firebolt which caused stalactites to fall on the cultists, killing a couple of them. The fanatics began the process of opening a portal. The party engaged with the cultists, killing all but two of them. The portal opened fully revealing a barlgura about 40 feet away in a fiery, rocky dimension. Reginald, using the staff he got from the necromancer, formed a mage hand, picked up a fanatic, and threw him at the barlgura. The barlgura threw the cultist back through the portal into the other cultist. This killed the first one. The barlgura rushed forward, and ended up halfway through the portal.

    Reginald, using his mage hand, picked up the fallen stalactites , holding them in the hand like claws. He punched the barlgura dealing a massive amount of damage. Shavae deceitfully promised to spare the last remaining fanatic if he closed the portal. He believed her and began closing it. The barlgura leapt forward through the portal before it closed though. It killed the fanatic immediately. The portal snapped shut. The party all attacked the barlgura. Ronin did a ton of damage with a divine smite. Reginald finished it by throwing on of the stalactites with his mage hand. The stalactite drove through it's head, pinning it to the wall by its head.

    Right after that, a cultist walked in, saw the wreckage, and immediately ran out. Larry charged forward and knocked him over before he could get away. He was finished by Kyle. 

    The party returned to Bralzrog's Lair. They found a potion infused with radiant energy. They also fixed up the wings that came off the Helmed Horror and attacked them to Ronin's armor. Shavae put together an apparatus that allowed her to make the wings flap, and therefore fly, if she rode on Ronin's back and operated it.
