 Session 17: The New and Improved Suicide Squad

The Cult

    Having taken a long rest, the party (now known far and wide as The Suicide Squad because they destroy everything in their path and take on missions anybody else would die on.) awoke. They received a knock on the door. Wary of danger, Ronin told whoever it was to go away. Bean broke the door down and walked in. Reginald, Shavae, and Kyle were excited to see Bean. With Bean was a small Halfling Bard named Eldon, a Genasi Druid named Blake, and a Hobgoblin Monk named Greg.

    Blake was upset that there were humans in the party. (He racist). Eldon talked about her backstory which may have involved putting on a show that burnt down the queen's castle, followed by being thrown in jail, putting on another show that burnt down the jail, and being assigned to the Suicide Squad. Greg joined the party because he had attacked Gaia with his fellow goblins, been captured, and spared on the condition he joined the Suicide Squad. The Suicide Squad had become a PR nightmare for the queen, so she decided to distance herself from it. Therefore, she assigned the royal soldier (Kyle) to a position of command somewhere else and called Shavae (her scholar) back to the castle to work on research. Shavae was more than happy to leave. She had joined the party to find shiny rocks, not almost get killed every five seconds. Before leaving, Shavae adjusted Ronin's armor so that the mechanism worked for the halfling and put a harness on it to keep Eldon from flying off.

    The party opened another door in the dungeon finding a minotaur skeleton standing next to a statue of a cultist. On top of the statue was a Bulezau. They were surrounded by piles of gold and chests of gold. (As well as a spiked shield off to the side). Reginald used his mage hand to smack the statue, trying to knock it over. Instead, it snarled. (Turned out to be a mimic.) A battle ensued. The Bulezau was killed when it jumped at Ronin/Eldon and was impaled on Ronin's glave. The mimic was finished by Eldon's vicious mockery. The minotaur skeleton was finished when Blake cut its head off with his daggers after taking a beating from Bean and Greg.

    Ronin tried to pick up the spiked shield, but it bit him. The party wailed on the mimic until it was finished by Eldon's vicious mockery. They loaded the gold into Donkey's seemingly bottomless packs, except for a little bit which they loaded into the cannon. They opened another door and fired the cannon immediately. All they hit was a boulder. But, the boulder came alive. (Galeb Duhr). They immediately closed the door. The Galeb Duhr smashed down the door and the fight began.
